As a transgender man, Thomas Beatie was able to carry a baby in the womb he was born with after he and his wife learned that she couldn't conceive.
Beatie, 34, had had his breasts surgically removed and legally changed his gender from female to male. Despite years of taking hormones and living outwardly as a man, Beatie maintained that he retained his female sex organs.
